Zetwerk Opens Its Largest Electronics Manufacturing Facility Near Chennai.

Zetwerk Electronics, a division of the $2 billion Zetwerk Manufacturing Businesses, has inaugurated its largest electronics manufacturing facility near Chennai. Located on a 15-acre campus in Pannur, 55 km from the city in Tiruvallur district, the new facility is set to bolster India’s Electronics System Design and Manufacturing (ESDM) sector. It aligns with India's ambition of reaching a $500 billion ESDM market and supports Tamil Nadu’s goal of becoming a $1 trillion economy, said Amrit Acharya, CEO & Co-founder of Zetwerk.

Established in 2021, Zetwerk Electronics provides end-to-end Electronics Manufacturing Services (EMS) from concept to production. The new facility is part of a ₹1,000 crore investment announced earlier and will manufacture electronic components for consumer durables and IT hardware, catering initially to domestic markets and later to international markets.

The facility will specialize in producing control boards for washing machines, refrigerators, air conditioners, and IT hardware. It features advanced production capabilities, including five Surface-Mount Technology (SMT) lines, Manual Insertion (MI) lines, potting, conformal coating, and rigorous testing processes. At full capacity, the plant will employ around 1,200 skilled professionals.

Union Minister for Electronics & Information Technology, Railways, and Information & Broadcasting, Ashwini Vaishnaw, inaugurated the facility. Speaking at the event, he said, “As Zetwerk launches its 7th factory, we reaffirm our commitment to supporting Indian companies in becoming global leaders.” He also announced the development of two major Electronics Manufacturing Clusters in Tamil Nadu—at Pillaipakkam and Manallur—with an approved cost of ₹1,112 crore to further boost the state’s electronics manufacturing sector.

Vaishnaw highlighted India’s rapid growth in electronics manufacturing, stating, “When Prime Minister Narendra Modi took charge, electronics manufacturing was a very small industry. Today, electronics has become the second-largest export sector, surpassing many traditional industries. I thank the Tamil Nadu government for advancing the PM’s vision.”

Tamil Nadu Industries Minister TRB Rajaa emphasized the state’s leadership in electronics manufacturing, noting that Tamil Nadu accounts for 36% of India’s electronics exports. “Investments from new-age companies like Zetwerk strengthen the ecosystem and will help the state achieve its ambitious target of ₹100 billion in annual electronics exports,” he said.

Acharya described the new facility as Zetwerk’s largest and a strategic export hub, leveraging Indo-US trade opportunities and strengthening India’s role in global supply chains.

Speaking to reporters, Acharya also revealed that Zetwerk is preparing for an initial public offering (IPO) within the next 15-24 months. “We are taking preparatory steps for the IPO, but as a six-year-old company, there is no immediate time pressure. Typically, investors have a 7-to-10-year investment horizon, so there is still room to make the right move,” he said.
