PM Modi Launches Projects Worth Over ₹35,000 Crore in Gujarat

Vadodara, 8 September 2026: Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated completed infrastructure and laid foundation stones for new projects worth more than ₹35,000 crore in Vadodara on Tuesday. The programme covered railway, highway, urban development and renewable energy infrastructure. 

A major component was the dedication of three Western Dedicated Freight Corridor sections spanning 326 kilometres, developed at a cost exceeding ₹20,700 crore. The sections connect Sanand–Makarpura, New Umbergaon–New Saphale and New Saphale–JNPT, strengthening freight connectivity between industrial centres and port facilities.

The programme also included foundation stones for three railway projects covering 329 kilometres and costing over ₹9,700 crore. These comprise the Vadodara–Ratlam third and fourth lines, Miyagam Karjan–Choranda–Malsar gauge conversion and Vishwamitri–Dabhoi doubling.

Highway works worth approximately ₹1,780 crore include widening the Kamrej–Chalthan section of NH-48, additional bridges and structures along the Vadodara–Surat corridor, and junction improvements on NH-53. The projects are intended to increase capacity, reduce congestion and improve road safety.

State development works worth around ₹2,600 crore include the proposed second phase of the Vadodara Ring Road and a 110 MW floating solar project at Kadana Dam. The overall package combines completed assets with projects entering development; it does not represent ₹35,000 crore of newly completed construction.
