KEI Industries Expands Sanand Greenfield Cable Plant; Capex Crosses ₹1,700 Crore

KEI Industries is progressing with its major greenfield cable manufacturing facility at Sanand, Ahmedabad, Gujarat, as part of a broader strategy to expand production capacity and strengthen its position in domestic and international wire and cable markets.

The Sanand facility is being developed as an integrated manufacturing complex capable of producing Low Tension (LT), High Tension (HT), Extra High Voltage (EHV), E-beam and HVDC cables. KEI has said the project will eventually enable it to manufacture a broad range of cable products at a single location.

The project has already moved beyond the initial construction stage. Commercial production of LT and HT cables commenced in December 2025, while additional capacities are being commissioned in phases. The company expects the EHV cable facility to become operational by Q4 FY2026-27.

Importantly, the latest company-linked disclosures indicate that the overall Sanand project is substantially larger than the previously cited ₹1,000 crore figure. KEI's monitoring report refers to total planned capex of around ₹1,450 crore from QIP proceeds, while recent industry reporting says cumulative expenditure on the Sanand facility had reached approximately ₹1,722 crore by June 2026.

Once fully ramped up, the facility is expected to provide approximately ₹5,500–6,000 crore of annual revenue/production potential. Its proximity to ports is also expected to improve logistics efficiency and support KEI's export ambitions.

The project strengthens KEI's capabilities in cables required for power transmission, renewable energy, infrastructure, industrial projects and other high-voltage applications, while supporting the company's wider manufacturing expansion programme.
