Yakshagana's Rich Culture Welcomed at Mangaluru Airport with New 10-ft Statue.

The Mangaluru International Airport Ltd has unveiled a new granite statue of ‘Yakshagana’ in the airport's departure area. This artwork is part of the airport's ongoing initiative to incorporate local culture into its public spaces, providing a culturally immersive experience for travelers.

The statue features a youthful figure with a calm expression, giving passengers and visitors a firsthand look at the region’s rich artistic traditions. Standing at an impressive 10.25 feet on a 3-foot pedestal, the statue weighs approximately four tonnes. It serves as a tribute to the traditional folk art form of Yakshagana, which is celebrated for its intricate costumes, expressive dance, and mythological storytelling.

The piece was created by Himanshu Kumar, a sculptor from Bihar who now lives in Karnataka. Kumar and his team completed the statue in just 64 days.
