Sabarimala Sewage Plant from Oct 31.
The date for Sabarimala Sewage Treatment Plant to start functioning has been set at October 31. The decision was taken at a meeting to discuss Pampa Action Plan which was presided over by Chief Minister Oommen Chandy in his chamber. The Central Government had allotted Rs. 18.45 crore for implementing the first stage of Pampa Action Plan.
The Central Government was to bear 70 per cent of the project cost and the state 30 per cent. There were 12 schemes under the project. Of these, seven schemes in the first stage were awarded to Travancore Devaswom Board. TDB was supposed to bear 30 per cent share. The number of schemes came down from seven to six. This included the Sannidhanam Sewage Treatment Plant, which is yet to be completed. The other five schemes have been implemented. TDB has decided to invite tenders for the Sewage Treatment plant based on the suggestion by experts to raise the capacity of the plant from 3 MLD to 5 MLD. The government decided to complete the work by October 31.
