ONGC Chief: Major Mumbai High Oil Production Boost Expected by October 2026.
The chairman of ONGC, A.K. Singh, announced that a significant increase in oil production from the company's flagship asset, Mumbai High, is anticipated by October 2026.
ONGC, India's largest exploration and production firm, has been working to combat a decline in crude oil output from the field. In January 2015, the company partnered with BP Exploration (Alpha), a subsidiary of BP, to serve as a technical services provider for the project.
"Nothing happens overnight," Singh told the media after ONGC's annual general meeting. "Any project you start takes a year or two because you first identify the problem, design a solution, and then procure, install, and commission. This process takes time even for the smallest of projects."
Mumbai High, discovered in 1974 and in production since 1976, is located in the Mumbai offshore area and accounts for roughly one-third of India's total oil output.
