NHAI to Build Flyover and Underpass at 200-Feet Bypass in Jaipur.
In response to ongoing congestion at one of Jaipur's busiest intersections, the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has announced plans to construct a flyover and an underpass at the 200-Feet Bypass crossing. This decision follows a comprehensive survey of the area.
The Union Ministry of Road, Transport and Highways (MoRTH) is set to issue tenders for the project in January 2025, with construction expected to take approximately 18 months to complete. A detailed project report (DPR) is anticipated within the next two months.
"This initiative aims to ease traffic for approximately 125,000 commuters who traverse this area daily," said Ajay Arya from NHAI. He noted that the rapid increase in vehicle numbers has significantly extended travel times at the signals. The new infrastructure is expected to alleviate these delays considerably.
Officials highlighted that the new projects will significantly impact city traffic patterns and enhance the flow of Delhi-Ajmer traffic. The proposed flyover, measuring around 1.6 kilometers, will accommodate vehicles coming from Ajmer and turning left toward Delhi. Currently, there is an existing flyover facilitating traffic from Delhi turning right toward Ajmer.
In addition, the underpass will serve traffic traveling between Vaishali Nagar and Mansarovar in both directions, further streamlining movement at this crucial intersection. An NHAI official explained, "Traffic between the Sodala and Ajmer sides will utilize this crossing. The signal management will adapt to allow smoother transitions, particularly for vehicles coming from Vaishali Nagar using the service road to turn toward Ajmer."
