"NHAI gears up for the next stage of the Prayagraj Inner Ring Road, aimed at further de-congesting the city’s core."
The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has begun preparations for the second phase of the four-lane Prayagraj Inner Ring Road project, aimed at easing traffic congestion and improving connectivity in the city.
The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has approved the preliminary detailed project report (DPR) for the second phase, clearing the way for further technical and administrative processes, officials said.
The proposed stretch will run from Madhopur village near NH-19 in Soraon tehsil to Amiliya village in Karchana tehsil, covering 41.662 km and passing through 41 villages. Land acquisition for the project is expected to begin within the next six months.
A key component of the project is the construction of two major river bridges, including a 3.5-km-long six-lane bridge over the Ganga and a 1.2-km-long bridge over the Yamuna. Surveys will be conducted to finalise the alignment and identify the villages through which the bridges will pass.
The project also предусматривает the construction of four flyovers, three railway overbridges and around 120 underground culverts to improve traffic flow and connectivity.
Technical experts are currently preparing detailed reports for the proposed structures, which will be submitted to the ministry for approval. Once clearances are obtained, the final DPR will be approved, paving the way for the start of construction.\
NHAI Prayagraj Project Director Siddharth Singh said the preliminary DPR for the second phase has been approved and notified in the Gazette of India, adding that surveys to finalise the locations of the Ganga and Yamuna bridges would begin shortly.
