Lyfius Pharma Commissions ₹2,500 Crore Penicillin-G Facility in Kakinada

Lyfius Pharma has officially inaugurated its advanced Penicillin-G (Pen-G) manufacturing facility in Kakinada, Andhra Pradesh, boasting an annual production capacity of 15,000 metric tonnes (MT). The facility was virtually inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday.

Built with an investment of ₹2,500 crore, the new facility aligns with the Government of India’s Production-Linked Incentive (PLI) Scheme for the pharmaceutical sector, which aims to bolster domestic manufacturing capabilities in critical Key Starting Materials (KSMs), Drug Intermediates (DIs), and Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (APIs).

M.V. Rama Krishna, Director of Lyfius Pharma, highlighted that the launch of the Pen-G facility marks a significant step in enhancing local production and reducing import dependency for essential pharmaceutical ingredients. “This investment underscores our commitment to supporting the government’s vision of ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat,’ establishing India as a global pharmaceutical manufacturing hub,” he stated in a press release.

The company plans to ramp up commercial production in FY25, further increasing domestic output of critical KSMs, DIs, and APIs.
