Knowledge Marine & Engineering Works Secures ₹47.59 Crore Dredging Contract from Deendayal Port.
Knowledge Marine & Engineering Works (KMEW) has been awarded a significant ₹47.59 crore contract by the Deendayal Port Authority (DPA) for dredging work at the Ghogha Ro-Ro Terminal in Gujarat.
The contract, which is to be executed over a 12-month period, involves both capital and maintenance dredging. The initial phase, valued at 60% of the contract, will focus on capital dredging in the approach channel and turning circle to achieve a depth of 6.8 meters Below Chart Datum (BCD) within the first three months. The remaining nine months will be dedicated to maintenance dredging, accounting for 40% of the contract value.
To ensure timely and efficient execution, KMEW will deploy its existing vessel, "River Pearl 8," a Trailing Suction Hopper Dredger, which is already in Gujarat. This strategic move highlights the company’s focus on maximizing fleet utilization and operational readiness.
KMEW secured the contract against strong competition from Sahara Dredging Limited and Rock and Reef Dredging Private Limited.
Sujay Kewalramani, CEO of Knowledge Marine & Engineering Works, stated that the contract further strengthens the company's presence at Deendayal Port and highlights its commitment to enhancing India's maritime infrastructure.
"This work order adds revenue of ₹47.59 crores to the existing order book to be executed in the current financial year, amounting to approximately 25% of the previous year's turnover," Kewalramani said. He emphasized that the company's strategy of deploying existing assets for high-value projects allows for continued growth without significant capital expenditure.
