HPCL Subsidiary Commissions 5 MMTPA LNG Terminal in Gujarat.

Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) announced the commissioning of its new LNG regasification terminal in Chhara, Gujarat, through its wholly-owned subsidiary, HPCL LNG Limited. The state-of-the-art facility received its first LNG cargo via the vessel Maran Gas Coronis on January 6, with the cargo discharge completed by January 12, 2025.

Built with an investment of ₹4,750 crores, the terminal has a capacity of 5 million metric tonnes per annum (MMTPA). Located in Gir-Somnath district, it is equipped to handle LNG receipt through ocean tankers, marine unloading, storage, road tanker loading, regasification, and integration with the national gas grid.

HPCL LNG Limited will operate the facility on a tolling model, offering services to third-party users through long-term capacity booking contracts and spot cargo agreements under a Master Regasification Agreement.

The terminal is set to commence commercial operations soon, marking a significant milestone for HPCL’s expansion in India’s LNG infrastructure.
