Finnish firm starts work on Metso Park in Rajasthan
New Delhi: Finnish engineering and technology group Metso has commenced work on establishing a 49-acre multi-functional industrial facility, named Metso Park, in Alwar, Rajasthan. The company will be investing close to Rs 165 crore over a period of two years to establish this industrial park, a Metso release said.
The facility, which will include office premises, several workshops, warehousing and a logistics centre, is expected to be fully operational by 2010.
The facility will initially cater to the demand for Metso’s products and services in India, but will eventually help in addressing sourcing demands of Metso companies in other countries, it said.
Through the facility, Metso aims to enhance its offering to customers in India, logistics, inventory control, operational quality and productivity as well as supplier relationships, the release said.
The ground-breaking ceremony was performed in Alwar on Wednesday in the presence of Mr Matti Kähkönen, President, Metso Minerals, senior management from Metso Minerals India and officials from RIICO (Rajasthan Industrial Investment Corporation).
Speaking on the occasion, Mr Kähkönen said, “The India market is an important part of our global strategy and we are determined to establish a strong presence here.
This industrial park concept is the first-of-its-kind for Metso and represents a milestone in our growth strategy.” Mr Sudhir Srivastava, Senior Vice President, Metso Minerals, India, said, “Metso Park will not only cater to the demand of the Indian customers but will also help meet demands of other Metso customers through exports in Asia.”
