Himachal’s Hamirpur Gets ₹107 Crore Power Infrastructure Upgrade Plan.

A ₹107 crore project has been launched in Himachal Pradesh’s Hamirpur district under the Centre’s Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme (RDSS) to strengthen and modernise the power distribution network, officials said.

The project aims to make electricity supply in the district more reliable by upgrading existing infrastructure, installing new transformers and improving transmission lines.

Under the scheme, 701 new transformers will be installed across Hamirpur, while existing transformers will be repaired and upgraded to enhance their capacity. New transformers with capacities of 25 kVA, 63 kVA, 100 kVA and 250 kVA will be deployed based on local requirements.

The RDSS is a Central government initiative focused on modernising power distribution systems by upgrading ageing transformers, electricity lines and substations to ensure uninterrupted power supply to consumers.

Himachal Pradesh State Electricity Board Superintending Engineer Ashish Kapoor said survey work for the project is currently underway. Once the survey is completed, the final scope of work will be prepared based on the specific requirements of different areas.

“After completion of the project, power supply in the district will become smoother and more reliable,” Kapoor said.

The project will also include the laying of new low-tension and high-tension lines, repair of damaged power lines and replacement of old infrastructure with modern systems.

Officials said the upgrade is expected to significantly reduce low-voltage issues in the district and improve the overall quality of power supply for consumers.
