"Airtel Boosts Network Capacity in UP West and Uttarakhand"

Bharti Airtel has successfully deployed an additional 5MHz spectrum in the 2100 band across Uttar Pradesh (West) and Uttarakhand, as announced on October 18, 2024. This expansion is aimed at enhancing the company’s 5G and 4G network capabilities in the region.

The deployment encompasses all 40 districts, including key cities such as Agra, Aligarh, Meerut, Bareilly, Moradabad, and Dehradun. Customers can anticipate improved indoor coverage and faster data speeds in both urban and rural areas.

Sovan Mukharjee, CEO of Airtel’s operations in UP and Uttarakhand, stated that the integration would significantly enhance call connectivity and overall network performance throughout the region.

This expansion follows Airtel’s acquisition of 97 MHz of spectrum in the recent auction, allowing the company to consolidate its previously fragmented spectrum blocks. Airtel now holds the largest pool of mid-band spectrum in India and has initiated the re-farming of mid-band spectrum to support 5G services in response to rising data demands.

With over 550 million customers across 17 countries in South Asia and Africa, Airtel is recognized as India’s largest integrated communications solutions provider and the second-largest mobile operator in Africa.
