The Magenta Line of the Delhi Metro is set to become the network’s longest corridor once planned extensions under Phase IV and Phase V(A) are completed, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) announced on social media platform X.
Currently running between Botanical Garden and Janakpuri West, the line will be extended from Ramakrishna Ashram Marg to Indraprastha via Central Vista under Phase V(A). Additionally, the Indraprastha–Inderlok corridor under Phase IV will serve as another extension of the Magenta Line.
Once fully commissioned, the line will stretch approximately 89 km from Botanical Garden to Inderlok, operating entirely as a driverless corridor.
21 Interchange Stations Planned
The extended corridor will feature 21 interchange stations, up from the four currently operational at Kalkaji Mandir, Botanical Garden, Janakpuri West, and Hauz Khas. Seventeen new interchange stations will be added, including Kalindi Kunj, Chirag Delhi, Terminal 1 IGI Airport, Peeragarhi, Pitampura (Madhuban Chowk), Haiderpur Badli Mor, Majlis Park, Azadpur, Pulbangash, Nabi Karim, Ramakrishna Ashram Marg, Shivaji Stadium, Central Secretariat, Indraprastha, Delhi Gate, New Delhi, and Inderlok.
Four of these—Central Secretariat, Azadpur, New Delhi, and Inderlok—will serve as triple interchange stations, connecting three metro corridors each.
After completion, the Botanical Garden–Inderlok stretch will have a total of 65 stations, including 40 underground stops, with the remainder elevated, significantly enhancing connectivity across the city.
