DCM Shriram Commissions Caustic Soda Expansion Project in Gujarat

DCM Shriram Ltd has announced the successful commissioning of its Caustic Soda Expansion Project in Gujarat, boosting the company's chemical complex in Jhagadia with an additional 850 Tons Per Day (TPD). The newly commissioned facility increases the total installed capacity at the Bharuch complex to 2,225 TPD, as per the company's official release on Saturday.

This expansion solidifies DCM Shriram's position in the chemical industry, with the Bharuch Chemical Complex now becoming the largest single caustic soda facility in the country. With this development, the company's total annual caustic capacity across its Bharuch (Gujarat) and Kota (Rajasthan) sites has reached 1 million metric Tons Per Annum (TPA).

In a statement, DCM Shriram highlighted the significance of this expansion, emphasizing the strategic growth of its chlor-alkali business. "We are the second-largest caustic soda producer in the country and remain optimistic about the long-term sustainable growth and profitability of this business segment, which is strongly linked to the GDP growth of the nation. This project reflects our commitment to building economies of scale, driving efficiencies, and implementing cutting-edge technology and infrastructure," the company said.

DCM Shriram also announced that it is in the advanced stages of commissioning additional projects at the Bharuch complex, including hydrogen peroxide and epichlorohydrin plants, further demonstrating the company's drive for innovation and growth in the chemical industry.
