Mani-Sampaje Road will be ready by January-end.

Upgrading the State highway between Mani and Sampaje will be over by January end, 2015, according to a senior official of the State government.

S.D. Ashok, Executive Engineer, Karnataka Road Development Corporation Ltd., told the District Vigilance and Monitoring Committee meeting here on Thursday that 11 k.m. of 70 k.m. stretch was pending to be upgraded. With this the five-year-old project would be completed.

Mr. Ashok said that the corporation would construct a new bridge across a river at Hosmatha on Uppinangady Kukke Subrahmanya Road. The cost of 120 mts long bridge had been estimated at Rs. 7.78 crore. The contractor for the project had been selected and works were yet to begin.

Nalin Kumar Kateel, Member of Parliament, Dakshina Kannada, who presided over the meeting directed Deputy Commissioner A.B.Ibrahim to conduct an inquiry into allegations of beneficiaries of government housing schemes selling their houses. The MP said that he had received 10 complaints to this effect. The government had built houses under Indira Awaz Yojana and Basava Vasati Yojana.
