Commissioning of Kochi Water Supply Scheme by January.

The State Government expects to commission the urban water supply scheme for Kochi by January 2015, Urban Affairs Minister Manjalamkuzhi Ali informed the Assembly recently.

Around Rs. 199.37 crore had been spent on this scheme so far, but much of the major works, including the laying of distribution lines, remain to be completed. They include the construction of the water purification plant, well, raw water pumping main, transmission main and the overhead water tank at Kumbalanghi, the Minister said. The scheme has been undertaken as part of the Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JnNURM).
