Chinese Consortium Secures EPC Contract for Sharjah Hamriyah Wastewater Treatment Plant in UAE
A Chinese consortium comprising CWT (Clean Water Treatment) and BHT Environ has been selected to execute the Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) works for the Sharjah Hamriyah Region Wastewater Treatment Plant in the United Arab Emirates.
The project represents another significant development in Sharjah's expanding wastewater treatment infrastructure, aimed at strengthening sanitation services, improving wastewater management and supporting sustainable urban and industrial growth.
The consortium will undertake engineering, procurement and construction activities associated with the treatment facility. BHT Environ brings expertise in technical delivery, equipment supply, project management, construction supervision and operations and maintenance support.
The development is expected to create procurement opportunities for wastewater treatment technology providers, pumps and valves manufacturers, filtration and membrane system suppliers, electrical equipment companies, automation specialists and civil construction contractors.
The selection also highlights the growing participation of Chinese engineering companies in the UAE's water and environmental infrastructure sector.
Separately, BHT Environ has reported securing the Kalba Sewage Treatment Plant Phase 1 upgradation project in Sharjah, further strengthening its regional project portfolio.
However, the EPC contract value, treatment capacity, project owner, construction commencement date and completion schedule have not been disclosed.
The project reflects continued investment in sustainable wastewater infrastructure across the UAE.
