City railway station to get new foot over-bridge.
Anil Kumar Agarwal, Division Railway Manager, Bangalore, has said that the Bangalore City Railway Station will get a 135-metre foot over-bridge (FOB) connecting platform one and ten. The over-bridge will be ready in six months, he said.
The FOB, which was initially slated to be completed by January 15, 2014, was held up for some time. Mr. Agarwal said the delay was owing to 'non-standard forms and design issues which have been resolved and finalised'. The work on extending the FOB from platform 10 to M.G. Colony has also started, he added.
According to information received from South Western Railway, an RTI query had been filed by Sanjeev V. Dyamannavar, seeking information on the proposed extension of the FOB from Platform 10 to M.G. Colony. While the RTI query said the work for the FOBs had been handed to a Secunderabad-based company and a Bangalore-based company, the railway officials said both work were being done by Bangalore-based companies.
There are no plans to extend the existing subway that currently connects all platforms in the railway station, to outside the station. Mr. Agarwal said, 'We are not doing anything [about the subway]. It is not feasible.'

One reason for abandoning the plan was that the railways did not want to create more entry and exit points owing to security reasons since more points meant higher vulnerability and increased monitoring. “One more entry and exit, especially after the recent bomb blasts, is a cause for concern,” he said.
He dismissed plans of construction of more platforms at the station.
