AP Govt Introduces Capital Development Bill in Assembly.
Moving towards procuring the agricultural lands from the farmers of 28 villages identified for constructing the new capital city proposed to be built near Vijayawada/Guntur, the AP government on recently introduced the AP Capital Region Development Authority (AP CRDA) Bill-2014 in the state Assembly.
The Bill, after becoming an Act, will allow the government to create a CRDA to oversee every activity right from planning, construction and administration of the proposed new capital of the state. This means, the Bill will allow the CRDA to oversee preparation and implementation of land pooling scheme, town planning scheme and special area development scheme within the jurisdiction of the Authority.
The Bill is expected to be taken up for discussion in the House soon. In the Bill, the government has proposed to create Capital Region Development Fund with a seed capital of Rs. 1,000 crore for providing working capital to the Authority and administering the Act. The legislation also provided for creation of Rs. 250-crore revolving fund for amenities.
The CM will be the chairman of the CRDA, which would replace the existing Vijayawada-Guntur-Tenali-Mangalagiri Urban Development Authority (VGTM UDA). Municipal administration and urban development minister would be the vice-chairman of the CRDA.
