Ajit Pawar Inspects Key Development Works in Pune
Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar on Sunday conducted a comprehensive inspection of development projects and local issues across Pune, including critical infrastructure like the Pune Metro Line - 3. His visit also extended to addressing the pressing concerns of grape growers regarding illegal raisin imports.
In a post on X, Pawar detailed his on-ground assessment: "Today, I inspected various local issues and the development works of projects such as Pune Metro Line - 3 at Rajiv Gandhi IT Park, Hinjawadi in Pune."
His inspection covered key locations within the Hinjawadi area, including Station No. 06 Croma, Hinjawadi Station No. 03, Hinjawadi Station No. 02, Helipad Circle Hinjawadi, Maan Road, Maan Village, and Laxmi Chowk. During these visits, Pawar meticulously examined challenges such as waterlogging during rains, road conditions, and traffic congestion, instructing attending officials to take immediate corrective actions.
Beyond urban infrastructure, Pawar also turned his attention to agricultural concerns, urging the Centre to take urgent measures to halt the illegal import and sale of raisins. He called for strict action to protect local farmers and recommended strengthening quality checks and tax collection mechanisms at ports, airports, and marketplaces to ensure proper inspection and compliance.
In a letter to the government, Pawar requested steps to stabilize raisin prices during the peak season, aiming to shield farmers from further losses. This issue was brought to the Deputy Chief Minister's attention by the Maharashtra State Grape Growers' Association, which recently met with him to express their concerns about the impact of these imports on the local farming community.
