Germany-based ZF Group, a global automotive supplier and technology company, has inaugurated a new electric parking brake (EPB) production line at its manufacturing facility in Oragadam, near Chennai.

The new line, which will cater to passenger vehicle manufacturers, has a peak annual production capacity of 800,000 units. The assembly process is currently managed by seven employees per line, with operations running in a single shift. The company plans to scale up to three shifts in the near future to meet growing demand.

Akash Passey, President – ZF Region India, said about 40 per cent of the EPB components are presently sourced locally. ZF aims to significantly deepen localisation, targeting 80–90 per cent local sourcing over the next two years.
