Yettinahole Gets Rs. 1,500 Crore.

Bowing to pressure from Kolar- Chikballapur legislators, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah recently announced Rs. 1,500 crore for the Yettinahole project.

He said the government is serious about completing the project, which aims to provide drinking water to Kolar, Chikballapur, Bengaluru rural and parts of Hassan and Tumakuru districts. The Yettinahole project had been mentioned in budgets from 2012-13 to 2014-15, and Rs. 350 crore set aside for this, he said. The government had spent Rs. 1,100 crore, including pending bills, on the project, he added.

Treated Sewage Water to Tanks

Siddaramaiah said they have decided to provide treated sewage water from Koramangala-Challaghatta tanks to Kolar district to recharge the groundwater table there.

The government will get a detailed project report (DPR) within 45 days and tenders will be invited for the setting up of a secondary treatment plant at a cost of Rs. 750 crore. The work is set to start anytime in September-October this year, he added.

The government has also sought a DPR to provide sewage water from Hebbal and Nagawara to tanks in Chikballapur district. There are also plans to supply treated sewage water from Vrushabavathi and Koramanagala to tanks in Bengaluru rural district.
