"Websol is set to establish an integrated solar manufacturing complex with an 8 GW capacity in Naidupeta."

The Government of Andhra Pradesh (GoAP) has approved a greenfield investment proposal by Websol Renewable Private Limited (WRPL) to set up a fully integrated 8 GW solar manufacturing facility at the Naidupeta multi-purpose Special Economic Zone (SEZ) in Tirupati district.

The project, involving a total investment of ₹3,538 crore, will comprise 4 GW of solar cell manufacturing capacity and 4 GW of solar module manufacturing capacity. According to an official release, the facility will be developed in two phases over 120 acres, with commercial production expected to commence between July 2027 and July 2028.

In addition, the State government has allotted 300 acres of land to Websol for the development of a captive solar power plant. This will allow the company to operate the manufacturing facility using renewable, self-generated electricity, aligning with sustainability goals.

With the approval of this project, Naidupeta and the southern Tamil Nadu–Andhra Pradesh industrial corridor are poised to emerge as one of India’s key solar manufacturing hubs. Several major players, including Premier Energies, Tata Power and Voltsun, are already establishing large-scale solar manufacturing units in the region.

Commenting on the development, Websol Energy Systems Limited Chairman and Managing Director Sohan Lal Agarwal said the State government’s clearance would enable the company to contribute meaningfully to Andhra Pradesh’s economic growth through its expansion plans. He added that the State’s supportive industrial ecosystem provides a strong platform for executing the project and advancing Websol’s long-term growth strategy.

IT and HRD Minister Nara Lokesh said the Websol investment was another strong endorsement of Andhra Pradesh’s position as one of India’s most competitive destinations for clean energy manufacturing.
