Water projects to be priority.

Minister for Law and Parliamentary Affairs T.B. Jayachandra said recently that the government was committed to implementing drinking water projects in Karnataka.

After inaugurating a seminar on 'irrigation and agricultural problems', Mr. Jayachandra said farmers in the district were suffering due to scanty rainfall and depletion of groundwater level. Drought has resulted in low yield of commercial crops. So sustained effort and political will is necessary to implement irrigation and drinking water projects, he added.

However, problems related to land acquisition had delayed project implementation. He informed on the occasion that the Upper Bhadra Project has got administrative approval and construction will begin shortly.
