Vesuvius Group CEO Patrick Andre Inaugurates New AlSi and Basic Monolithic Plants in Visakhapatnam.
Vesuvius, a global leader in the refractory industry, inaugurated its new Alumina-Silica (AlSi) and Basic Monolithic manufacturing plants in Visakhapatnam on November 12, 2024. The launch is a key step in Vesuvius's ongoing investment strategy in India, aimed at boosting manufacturing capabilities and meeting the growing demand from the iron and steel industry. This development follows the inauguration of the Mould Flux manufacturing plant in April 2024.
The new plants will produce high-quality alumina-silica and basic monolithic refractory products, which are vital for iron and steel production. Once fully operational, these facilities will increase annual production capacity by 250,000 tons, reinforcing Vesuvius’s leadership in the region’s refractory market. Equipped with advanced technology, the plants are designed to introduce innovative products and solutions to the Indian market.
Mr. Patrick Andre, CEO of Vesuvius Group, remarked, “This investment demonstrates our strong belief in the Indian market. The AlSi and Basic Monolithic plants are a reflection of our commitment to innovation and to supporting India’s industrial growth.”
Mr. Biswadip Gupta, Chairman of Vesuvius India Limited (VIL), highlighted the plants' contribution to both economic development and sustainability, stating, “These facilities not only enhance our manufacturing capabilities but also support the socio-economic development of local communities. Sustainability and efficiency are central to our operations.”
Mr. Mohinder Rajput, Managing Director of VIL, added, “The new plants incorporate energy-efficient technologies and robust waste reduction systems, ensuring that our growth aligns with both environmental responsibility and operational excellence.”
This expansion further strengthens Vesuvius’s position in India, supporting the country’s industrial growth and aligning with the broader Make in India initiative.
