TVS Motor Company, a leading two-wheeler manufacturer, and Germany's renowned superbike maker, BMW Motorrad, have officially initiated production of BMW's electric two-wheeler, the CE 02, at TVS Motor's manufacturing unit located in Hosur. This development marks a significant milestone in the ongoing partnership between the two automotive giants.
The CE 02 electric two-wheeler, manufactured in Hosur, was unveiled by BMW earlier this year in July, targeting the global market. The official launch for the European market is expected to take place early next year, with an anticipated price tag of 8,500 euros. Plans for the Indian market launch will be disclosed at a later date.
K N Radhakrishnan, Director & CEO of TVS Motor Company Ltd, expressed his enthusiasm about the growing collaboration between the two companies, stating, "The win-win partnership between the TVS Motor Company-BMW continues to get stronger. We have already produced five superbikes in the ICE segment as part of our association. Now in the EV segment, we have jointly designed, developed, and industrialized the first EV - BMW CE 02 together at our Hosur plant." He made this announcement at the Hosur factory during the commencement of CE 02 production.
The initiation of electric scooter CE O2's production reflects the expansion of the long-standing partnership into the electric mobility segment. Two years ago, both companies had revealed their joint commitment to developing electric two-wheelers catering to urban youth on a global scale.
