Trial Runs on RRTS Corridor Between New Ashok Nagar and Shahibabad Stations Nearing Completion.

The National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) announced recently that trial runs on the Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut RRTS corridor, between New Ashok Nagar and Sahibabad stations, are nearing completion and the section is expected to become operational by January 2025. A senior NCRTC official stated that work on the Sarai Kale Khan station is in its final stages, with track laying in progress between New Ashok Nagar and Sarai Kale Khan. The trial runs will begin shortly after all construction is completed, with dedicated parking space for around 1,200 vehicles at the New Ashok Nagar station.

Trial runs between Sahibabad and New Ashok Nagar are progressing quickly, and the opening of the Anand Vihar and New Ashok Nagar stations will extend the corridor from 42 km to 54 km, according to the official. The new Namo Bharat train services will enable passengers to travel from New Ashok Nagar to Meerut South in just 35-40 minutes.

Designed as a multi-modal transport hub, the New Ashok Nagar station will connect the RRTS to the Delhi Metro Blue Line. A 90-meter foot overbridge is being constructed to link the New Ashok Nagar RRTS station with the Ashok Nagar Metro station. Additionally, two parking areas for 600 vehicles, including spaces for cars, motorcycles, and bicycles, will be available, with the first 10 minutes of parking free for pick-and-drop service users.

The Anand Vihar RRTS station, which is set to be one of the busiest transit hubs on the corridor, will be connected to two metro lines (Blue and Pink), the Anand Vihar railway station, and two ISBTs—one serving Delhi and the other towards Kaushambi in Uttar Pradesh. The NCRTC is working to integrate the RRTS station seamlessly with these transport modes to make it a model for multi-modal connectivity. Construction of the station is nearing completion.

With both New Ashok Nagar and Anand Vihar stations expected to become operational by January 2025, the RRTS corridor will significantly improve connectivity for travelers between Meerut and Noida. The full RRTS corridor, slated for completion by 2025, will reduce travel time between Delhi’s Sarai Kale Khan and Meerut’s Modipuram to under one hour.
