"Telangana CM Requests Centre's Support for Second Phase of Hyderabad Metro Rail and Other Projects"

Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao recently appealed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the approval of critical infrastructure projects, including the Regional Ring Road (RRR), the regional ring rail, and the second phase of the Hyderabad metro rail. Speaking at the release event of UNIKA, the autobiography of former Maharashtra Governor Ch. Vidyasagar Rao, the CM highlighted the state's vision to transform Hyderabad into a global city and boost its economic growth.

Reddy noted that Hyderabad contributes 60% of Telangana's income and emphasized the need for Union support to further elevate the state's infrastructure. He urged the Centre to allocate a dry port in Telangana and expedite the completion of the Kazipet Railway Coach Factory. He also pointed out that Telangana’s competition is not limited to Andhra Pradesh’s Amaravati but extends globally, with a particular focus on cities like New York and Tokyo.

Reddy urged for necessary permissions to expand the metro rail network in Hyderabad, stating that PM Modi has shown cooperation in metro projects in other states, including Tamil Nadu and Bengaluru. He called for unity across party lines, seeking support from leaders like Union Minister Bandi Sanjay Kumar and BRS leader Vinod Kumar to work together for Telangana's development.

The CM expressed confidence that the Union Cabinet would approve the second phase of the Hyderabad Metro Rail project soon.

Reddy also addressed the importance of university students' involvement in politics, noting that their active participation was crucial during the Telangana movement. He stressed the need for revival of ideological student politics to ensure loyalty and stability in political parties.

He further emphasized that the role of the opposition is vital for a healthy democracy, but noted that his government has maintained democratic practices by avoiding the expulsion of opposition members from the assembly in the past 13 months.

The event was attended by several dignitaries, including Vidyasagar Rao, Haryana Governor Bandaru Dattatreya, Odisha Governor Hari Babu Kambhampati, and Union Minister of State for Home Bandi Sanjay Kumar.
