Tata Power Eyes Five HVDC Projects, Plans ₹1 Lakh Crore Investment.

Tata Power has lined up a capital expenditure of ₹1.25 lakh crore over the FY26–FY30 period as it pursues an aggressive expansion across generation, transmission and distribution segments.

The planned investment is aimed at scaling the company’s total power generation capacity to over 30 GW by 2030, including around 20 GW from clean and green energy sources. Tata Power also targets expanding its transmission network to 10,000 circuit kilometres (CKM) and increasing its distribution customer base to about 4 crore by the end of the decade.

As of March 2025, the company’s installed generation capacity stood at 15.7 GW, of which around 7 GW was from clean and green sources. Its transmission line network spanned 7,046 CKM, while it served 1.28 crore distribution customers.

Outlining the company’s growth roadmap, Managing Director and CEO Pravir Sinha said Tata Power plans to bid for upcoming capital-intensive high-voltage direct current (HVDC) projects, divest its stake in power assets in Georgia and Zambia, and foray into the nuclear power segment.
