Tamil Nadu to Sign Investment MoUs with Global and Domestic Shipbuilders at TN Rising Madurai.

Tamil Nadu is set to strengthen its position as a hub for shipbuilding and ship repair by signing investment MoUs with global and domestic shipping companies at the Madurai edition of the TN Rising Conclave recently.

Sources said the agreements will include shipbuilding projects along the Cuddalore and South Tamil Nadu coast. A global shipping major, whose name could not be confirmed, is among the investors. In addition, the Chowgule Group’s shipbuilding division plans to invest around ₹7,500 crore in a new facility in South Tamil Nadu. Chowgule Global is also expected to commit ₹1,000 crore for a ship repair facility in Cuddalore district.

Once operational, these projects are expected to boost opportunities for MSMEs and related industries in the regions, further enhancing the state’s maritime infrastructure and capabilities.
