Steel Secretary Mr Mohan Kumar to commission modernized RINL BF1 Godavari.

The Hindu reported that Steel Secretary Mr G Mohan Kumar will commission the new-look Blast Furnace-1 Godavari upgraded by Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Limited at a cost of Rs.600 crore on 30th July 2014.

The volume of the Blast Furnace-1 has been increased from 3200 cum to 3800 cum by introducing copper cooling plates and latest generation cast iron cooling plates in the place of existing normal cast iron cooling plates.

Modernisation will increase the hot metal production of VSP by 500,000 tonne per annum.

Godavari was commissioned in 1991 and at that point of time this was the largest BF with 3200 cum volume and production capacity 1.8 million tonne.

Mr. Mohan Kumar will also inaugurate Sinter Heat Recovery Power Plant (SHRPP) of 20.6 MW and the dissemination seminar of SHRPP.
