Slew of Projects in the Offing for H-K Region?.
The state government is expected to announce a slew of development projects for Hyderabad Karnataka (H-K) region at the special cabinet meeting to be held in Kalaburagi recently.
According to sources, legislators from the backward region have submitted a list of demands to be considered at the meeting, which will devote its attention to issues concerning North Karnataka.
A delegation of Congress legislators from Hyderabad-Karnataka region met Chief Minister Siddaramaiah recently and submitted a memorandum with 25 demands for the speedy development of North Karnataka and H-K region in particular. 'The demand for setting up a high-level committee to prepare a comprehensive development plan for H-K region is almost certain to be approved by the cabinet,' said party MLA from Yelaburga, Basavaraja Rayareddy, who met Siddaramaiah recently.
Sanction of 10 new polytechnics, 20 degree colleges, and 75 government high schools for Hyderabad-Karnataka tops the list of demands. The cabinet is also expected to discuss the demand for setting up 30 new primary health centres and five new 100-bed hospitals in the region.
An announcement on building a balancing reservoir across Tungabhadra Dam to offset the loss of 35 tmc ft due to silt in Tungabhadra Dam is also expected from the cabinet meeting.
