The Southern India Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SICCI) on Monday congratulated Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay and also put forward a set of policy recommendations aimed at strengthening the state’s long-term economic growth across key sectors.
SICCI President Arun Alagappan said Tamil Nadu remains one of India’s leading industrial, agricultural, services, and export-oriented economies. However, he noted that sustaining its competitiveness in an increasingly technology-driven, climate-sensitive, and globally interconnected environment will require continuous policy updates, stronger institutional coordination, and strategic investments across sectors and regions.
Highlighting key areas for reform, SICCI stressed the need for greater policy clarity and improvements in Ease of Doing Business. The industry body recommended that existing frameworks such as the Tamil Nadu Industrial Policy, Artificial Intelligence Policy, MSME Policy, and Cybersecurity Policy be reviewed and updated to align with emerging economic priorities.
The chamber also suggested the introduction of new sector-specific policies, including a Dairy Development Policy, Agri-Tech Policy, and a Diaspora Engagement Policy, to unlock new growth opportunities and broaden the state’s development base.
