Shree Cement Invests ₹3,500 Crore in New Kiln Commissioning in Rajasthan
Shree Cement, the second-largest cement manufacturer in India, marked a significant milestone on Thursday with the inauguration of a new kiln at its integrated production facility in Nawalgarh, Rajasthan. This state-of-the-art plant, established at a cost of ₹3,500 crore, boasts an annual cement production capacity of 3.5 million tonnes. Shree Cement reported to the stock exchanges that the kiln is designed with a rated capacity of 11,500 tonnes per day.
Following the commissioning of the Nawalgarh facility, Shree Cement's overall cement production capacity has risen to 53.4 million tonnes per annum, up from the previous 49.9 million tonnes per annum. The company's expansion efforts also include a 33-megawatt waste heat recovery-based power plant, demonstrating its commitment to sustainable practices by generating electricity without relying on fossil fuels. This power plant utilizes waste gases from the clinkerisation process.
Situated in the northeastern part of Rajasthan, bordering Haryana, the Nawalgarh plant provides a strategic logistical advantage, contributing to a reduction in delivered costs. Neeraj Akhoury, Managing Director of Shree Cement Ltd, shared the company's ambitious plans, aiming for an annual capacity of 80 million tonnes by the year 2028.
Akhoury emphasized the modernity of the Nawalgarh facility, stating that it will significantly enhance operational performance. He highlighted the plant's suitability for catering to high-consumption cement markets in the National Capital Region, Punjab, and Haryana, while also reinforcing the company's customer servicing capabilities in Rajasthan.
Currently, Shree Cement operates a network of five integrated facilities across three states, including Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, and Karnataka. The latest investment underscores the company's commitment to growth, efficiency, and sustainability in the competitive cement industry.
