Reliance Industries, under the leadership of Chairman and Managing Director Mukesh D Ambani, has affirmed its commitment to making fresh investments in Tamil Nadu's renewable energy space. The announcement came during Ambani's virtual address at the inaugural function of the Global Investors Meet 2024, organized by the Tamil Nadu government. Ambani also disclosed that Reliance Industries is set to inaugurate a state-of-the-art data centre, established in collaboration with Canada-based Brookfield Asset Management and US-based Digital Reality.
Expressing pride in Reliance's partnership with Tamil Nadu's growth over the years, Ambani highlighted the company's substantial investments in the state. Reliance has opened nearly 1,300 retail stores across Tamil Nadu, with an investment exceeding Rs. 25,000 crore. Additionally, Jio, a Reliance Industries subsidiary, has invested over Rs. 35,000 crore in the state, extending the benefits of the digital revolution to 35 million subscribers across every town and village.
Ambani underscored the significance of Jio's achievement in completing the fastest 5G rollout globally in December 2023. This technological milestone positions Tamil Nadu to harness the advantages of artificial intelligence and other breakthroughs in the fourth industrial revolution, fostering accelerated economic growth.
While expressing regrets for being unable to attend the summit in person, Ambani praised Chief Minister M K Stalin for transforming Tamil Nadu into one of the most business-friendly states in the country. He expressed confidence that the state would soon achieve a trillion-dollar economy, aligning with the summit's apt slogan.
Reliance Industries Ltd's partnership with Canada's Brookfield Asset Management and US-based Digital Reality has resulted in the establishment of a cutting-edge data centre, scheduled to be inaugurated next week. Ambani, however, did not provide specific details regarding the total investments made in the facility or its location.
Highlighting Reliance's commitment to new investments in Tamil Nadu's renewable energy and green hydrogen sectors, Ambani emphasized collaboration with the state government to promote sustainable development. He expressed confidence in receiving support from the state government through viable policies for forthcoming initiatives aimed at addressing the climate crisis.
