"Prime Minister Modi Inaugurates Boeing's State-of-the-Art ₹1,600 Crore Technology Center in Bengaluru"

Boeing, the renowned aerospace giant, officially opened its India Engineering & Technology Center campus in Bengaluru, solidifying its commitment to the country with a significant investment of ₹1,600 crore ($200 million). Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in a momentous inauguration ceremony, unveiled the sprawling 43-acre campus, marking Boeing's largest financial venture outside the United States.

This state-of-the-art facility is poised to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of global aviation by spearheading the development of cutting-edge aerospace solutions for both civil and defense markets, according to statements from the company. Additionally, the Bengaluru campus has become Boeing's largest engineering and research & development hub outside the United States, boasting a workforce that exceeded 6,000 employees as of December 2023.

Boeing expressed its commitment to aligning the campus with Prime Minister Modi's Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative, aiming to make it one of the most advanced examples of self-reliance in aerospace innovation.

Moreover, the Bengaluru campus is positioned as a central hub for Boeing's collaboration with Indian start-ups and universities. The company has partnered with seven incubators, including prestigious institutions such as the Society for Innovation and Entrepreneurship at IIT Mumbai, the Foundation for Innovation and Technology Transfer at IIT Delhi, and others.

David L. Calhoun, President, and CEO of Boeing, expressed gratitude for the opportunity to support PM Modi's transformative vision for India and highlighted the campus dedication to fostering aerospace innovation in the country.

As part of its commitment to empowering women in the aviation sector, Boeing launched the Sukanya Program, aiming to facilitate the entry of more girls from across India into the rapidly growing aviation industry. The program will focus on providing opportunities for girls and women to acquire essential skills in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) fields, with plans to establish STEM labs at 150 locations to ignite interest in STEM careers. Additionally, the Sukanya Program will offer scholarships to women pursuing careers as pilots.

Stephanie Pope, Chief Operating Officer of The Boeing Company, expressed enthusiasm for Prime Minister Modi personally launching the Boeing Sukanya Program, emphasizing the collaborative effort to expand opportunities for women across India in the aviation sector.
