"PM flags off ₹6,957 cr Kaziranga corridor project."
Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently cited the outcomes of the Bihar Assembly election and the Mumbai civic polls to assert that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has emerged as the first choice of people across the country.
Speaking after laying the foundation stone for the ₹6,957-crore Kaziranga elevated corridor and virtually flagging off two Amrit Bharat trains from Kaliabor in poll-bound Assam, the Prime Minister said the Congress had lost the trust of the nation.
The 86-km Kaziranga elevated corridor is a four-lane National Highway project, including a 35-km elevated stretch passing through the Kaziranga National Park. According to an official statement, the elevated wildlife corridor will ensure the uninterrupted movement of animals, reduce human-wildlife conflict, enhance road safety, and cut travel time and accident rates.
Mr. Modi also praised the Himanta Biswa Sarma-led Assam government for curbing rhinoceros poaching in Kaziranga, describing the park as the “soul of Assam” and a “priceless jewel of the country.” He alleged that the Congress had neglected the region during its time in power.
Further criticising the Congress, the Prime Minister accused it of allowing infiltrators to encroach on land in Assam, including forests and areas of historical and cultural significance. He lauded the State government for its efforts to tackle infiltration and reclaim encroached land, saying these measures had helped protect Assam’s natural and cultural heritage.
