"Peerless to Invest ₹1,000 Crore in Healthcare and Real Estate Projects"
The Peerless Group is set to invest approximately ₹1,000 crore into its healthcare and mixed-use real estate projects over the next three years.
The Kolkata-based conglomerate is developing a 160-bed cancer-care facility, the SK Roy Institute of Oncology Services (SRIOS), with an investment of around ₹500 crore. The facility is slated to open in 2026. “We are also exploring acquisition opportunities within the healthcare sector,” said Peerless Chairman Partha Sarathi Bhattacharyya during a press conference following the 91st annual general meeting of the group’s flagship company, Peerless General Finance and Investment (PGFI).
In addition, the group is working on Trayam, a mixed-use real estate project in Kolkata, which will include retail, commercial, and residential spaces. Bhattacharyya noted that the total investment in Trayam will be around ₹500 crore, with the project set to launch this year and expected to be completed within the next four years.
PGFI Director Spriya Sinha confirmed that the group’s overall investment of ₹1,000 crore will be split between these healthcare and real estate ventures over the coming three years.
Jayanta Roy, Managing Director, highlighted a strategic shift towards consumer-facing businesses for future growth. “We have closed our retail loan business, which contributed about 1% to our group profit. With PGFI receiving a license as an NBFC-investment and credit company (NBFC-ICC), we are now focusing on more dynamic ventures,” Roy added.
The group’s turnover for the last financial year was approximately ₹961 crore.
