OU to get ₹ 100-crore grant.

Osmania University has been chosen for a grant of ₹ 100 crore under the Rashtriya Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan Phase -2 (RUSA 2).

After the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) chose OU as one among the 10 State varsities to extend the grant, a team presented the report at the 14th meeting of the RUSA Project Approval Board last week.

The team was headed by by Naveen Mittal, Commissioner, Collegiate Education and State Project Director, RUSA; Prof. S. Ramachandram, Vice-Chancellor, Osmania University; Soundarya Joseph, State Project Officer, RUSA and C. Srinivasulu, Nodal Officer, Statistical Cell, OU.

The detailed project proposal was presented by the Vice-Chancellor at the meeting where he explained how the funds would be spent.

Under the RUSA 2, eight new centres, modernisation of teaching labs, establishing of technology-enabled classrooms, and repair and renovation of the existing infrastructure have been proposed.

The varsity would get the grants in a phased manner and Prof. Ramchandram said it was the largest grant that the university has been awarded so far.
