OpenText Expands Bengaluru Center of Excellence with New Facility.

OpenText, a global leader in information management software and services, has announced the expansion of its Center of Excellence (CoE) in Bengaluru with the opening of a new 70,000 sq ft facility. This marks a significant milestone in OpenText’s India operations, with the country being the largest R&D hub for the company, housing over 6,000 engineers out of the global workforce of 9,000.

The new facility will accommodate around 700 employees and comes on the back of a 15% average annual growth in OpenText’s workforce in India, alongside a 25% expansion in Hyderabad over the past two years. The Bengaluru office alone has tripled its workforce in the last two years, increasing by 194%.

India has been a core innovation center for OpenText since 2012, with a strong presence in cities such as Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Chennai, Mumbai, and New Delhi. The company employs approximately 25,000 people globally and invested $680.6 million in R&D in FY23.

Manoj Nagpal, Managing Director of OpenText India, emphasized that India is a key growth market for the company, contributing significantly to its position as the largest player in the APJ region. “The growth of OpenText India and our new Bengaluru facility represents a strategic leap forward in advancing OpenText’s 3.0 vision for global innovation and excellence,” he said.

The Bengaluru team will continue to focus on key areas such as AI, cybersecurity, DevOps, and cloud operations, supporting OpenText's Business Clouds and global customer needs. The facility will also play a pivotal role in product development, cloud deployment, and customer support for OpenText’s global clientele.

The acquisition of Micro Focus earlier this year further bolstered OpenText’s talent pool and customer base in India, doubling its workforce and expanding its market reach. OpenText’s solutions are already widely adopted by several major Indian banks and all four telecommunications companies for IT operations management.

Madhu Ranganathan, President and CFO of OpenText, highlighted that the new Bengaluru facility underscores India’s role as the company’s largest center of innovation. “Our growing team in India will significantly contribute to OpenText’s next phase of innovation,” she said.
