Navi Mumbai Airport Expansion Enters Phase 2 in October.
The next significant phase of the Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA) is set to commence with pre-development works beginning in October. This crucial expansion will include the construction of a second terminal and an additional runway, according to BVJK Sharma, Chief Executive Officer of the airport.
While the exact launch date for the airport's first phase is yet to be finalized, operations are anticipated to begin by the end of August. Airlines have already started firming up their plans for the new aviation hub. IndiGo and Akasa Air have publicly announced their operational strategies for NMIA, and discussions are currently underway with Air India to finalize its network from the upcoming airport.
The initiation of the second phase marks a critical step in developing NMIA into a fully operational and high-capacity international airport, aimed at significantly easing air traffic congestion in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region.
