Noida Airport's Initial Phase Development to Incur Rs. 10,056 Crore Cost
The initial phase of the upcoming international airport in Noida is expected to incur a cost of Rs 10,056 crore, with approximately Rs. 7,100 crore already expended, as per officials. S P Goyal, Additional Chief Secretary to the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister, conducted a progress review of the Jewar international airport on Monday, instructing relevant officials to ensure project completion by September this year.
The first phase of the airport, spread across 1,300 hectares, is set to commence flight operations in September. The review meeting involved discussions with officials from Yamuna International Airport Private Limited (YIAPL), a subsidiary of Zurich International Airport AG and the concessionaire for the greenfield airport.
During the review, YIAPL informed the additional chief secretary that the construction of the terminal building, ATC tower, and runway is progressing according to the development plan, with Tata Projects serving as the EPC contractor. The concessionaire assured that machinery and workforce have been increased at the site, ensuring timely completion. Goyal emphasized the need for on-time development, aligning with the milestone set for September 2024.
According to OSD Shailendra Bhatia, an expenditure of Rs. 10,056 crore is anticipated for the first phase of airport development, of which approximately Rs. 7,100 crore has been spent, representing over 70% completion. This expenditure encompasses activities such as land acquisition and development.
In its initial phase, the airport, assigned the code DXN, will feature one runway and a terminal building designed to handle 12 million passengers annually.
