NMC Hurries to Approve ₹2,000 Crore Infrastructure Projects Ahead of Poll Code.
Nashik Municipal Corporation (NMC) is accelerating its tendering process to issue work orders for civic and Kumbh Mela-related projects worth over ₹2,000 crore before the model code of conduct comes into effect ahead of the upcoming municipal corporation elections in mid-December.
The civic body has floated bids for several major infrastructure initiatives, including a ₹950-crore road development project, ₹450 crore for water supply upgrades, and a ₹452-crore sewage network project. Other tenders cover the upgrading of the old Adgaon truck terminus (₹200 crore), the cable-stayed Ram Jhula bridge (₹23 crore), a pay-and-park project, and multiple additional initiatives.
“Various civic and Kumbh Mela-related projects worth over ₹2,000 crore are in the tender process. We plan to complete the tendering at the earliest and issue work orders to ensure execution begins before the code of conduct comes into effect,” NMC officials said. They added that the deadline for completing all Kumbh Mela-related works is March 2027, prompting the administration to expedite tendering and project initiation.
The NMC has already completed tender processes for projects worth ₹2,600 crore, with work underway on several. Projects with issued work orders include the Godavari purification project (₹1,475 crore), water supply improvements (₹305 crore), Ram Kal Path (₹145 crore), city roadworks (₹90 crore), five new bridges (₹145 crore), Optical Fibre Cable laying (₹147 crore), and CCTV surveillance installations (₹300 crore).
The accelerated push highlights the civic body’s drive to ensure key infrastructure and event-related projects are on track before election restrictions are enforced.
