Minister announces uplift projects in Kunduz

Kunduz: Minister for Counter Narcotics Thursday laid the foundation of conference halls in northern Kunduz province and pledged one million dollar for the province.

General Khudaidad hailed the performance of Kunduz officials on counter narcotics and said $0.7 million allotted money of last year to Kunduz province will be used on uplift projects.

He added Kunduz is one of the provinces where poppy cultivation is zero therefore they allotted $1 million for this year.

He added the officials of Kunduz should be strict on poppy cultivation and launch uplift projects according the need of people.

Eng. Muhammad Omar, Kunduz governor said the halls will be constructed at the cost of $0.3 million in the current year from the money allotted by the minister.

He said the halls will be used for formal conferences, seminars and meetings.

The governor said there will be no poppy cultivation this year, but asked for more aid for agriculture.
