ZF, a leading global supplier of automotive systems spanning passenger vehicles, commercial vehicles, and industrial technology, has unveiled its 19th manufacturing plant in India, located in Oragadam, Tamil Nadu.
With a substantial project investment of Rs. 1,800 crore, ZF aims to fortify its manufacturing presence and expansion efforts in India, with plans for investment realization by 2030. The newly inaugurated facility, spread across 44.08 acres, represents phase I of the project, covering an impressive area of 7,200 square meters and boasting state-of-the-art production technology.
The Oragadam plant exemplifies ZF's commitment to its 'Make in India for India and the World' strategy, emphasizing local manufacturing excellence to meet global demands. This multi-divisional facility is poised to lead the charge in pioneering innovative solutions across Safety, Automated, Connected, and Electric domains for both commercial and passenger vehicles, contributing to Next Generation Mobility and bolstering exports as a center of excellence for manufacturing and frugal engineering.
Furthermore, the Oragadam facility is integral to ZF's ambitious goal of achieving climate neutrality by 2040. In alignment with this objective, the plant prioritizes sustainably generated energy, relying on 100 per cent renewable energy from solar and wind power sources through long-term contracts. Moreover, the facility is equipped with rainwater harvesting infrastructure to collect and reuse rainwater, with a target to achieve water positivity by 2025.
In line with the increasing demand from customers, ZF plans to expand its workforce at the Oragadam plant over the next decade, with a focus on employing predominantly women. This strategic move reflects ZF's dedication to fostering innovation and growth in the Indian market.
