Metro: St Albert's Land Issue 'Almost' Settled.

The issues related to the taking over of land leased to St. Albert's College ground at Kaloor was almost settled at a high-level meeting held at Thiruvananthapuram recently. At the meeting convened by Power Minister Aryadan Mohammed, it was decided that Kochi Metro Rail Ltd. (KMRL) will take over the 88 cents of land required for the Metro rail project in front of Jawaharlal Nehru stadium in Kaloor. Out of this, 14 cents of land will be excluded, which is the nursery space. The remaining 74 cents would be taken from the GCDA and the land that belongs to St. Albert's College. The GCDA will give alternative land to the college management in another area in lieu of the land surrendered.

'The issues related to the St Albert's land are almost settled and we will take further decision after looking into the previous dealings of this kind. A decision on whether to continue the lease agreement with the college will also be taken later,' said District Collector M G Rajamanickam, who attended the meeting.

Revenue Minister Adoor Prakash and KMRL MD Elias George were also present.
