The final sections of the 82-km Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut Namo Bharat corridor, linking Sarai Kale Khan in Delhi with Modipuram in Meerut, are expected to be inaugurated on February 22 by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, an official said.
Alongside the corridor, the 23-km Meerut Metro, comprising 13 stations, will also be launched, the source added.
The remaining stretches—5 km from Sarai Kale Khan to New Ashok Nagar in Delhi and 21 km from Meerut South to Modipuram—have been completed and are now slated for inauguration. The corridor, which already has a 55-km operational segment with 11 stations, features key stops at Anand Vihar, Ghaziabad, Guldhar, Muradnagar, Modinagar South and North, and Meerut South, forming a critical backbone for the regional rapid transit system connecting residential, commercial, and industrial hubs along the route.
According to the National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC), the fully integrated corridor is expected to boost mobility, trigger socio-economic shifts, and spur new residential and commercial development in Delhi, Ghaziabad, and Meerut.
The corridor has already had a noticeable impact on real estate. Land values within a two-kilometre radius of stations have increased 30–67% over two years, with rates in Meerut rising from ₹8,000–12,000 to ₹12,000–20,000 per sq. yard. Developers are responding to this demand: Paras Buildtech has launched a 25-acre plotted development in Meerut with around 220 premium plots, while Alpha Corp is developing its MeerutOne project in Modipuram.\
Shalabh Goel, Managing Director of NCRTC, said, “When the Namo Bharat project was conceptualised, one of the aims was to enable polycentric development in NCR. We are also harnessing the potential of transit-oriented development (TOD) to foster communities.” Pritam Mishra, Vice President of Sales at Paras Buildtech, added, “The Namo Bharat corridor has been a game-changer for Meerut’s real estate landscape, elevating peripheral zones into high-demand urban nodes.”
The corridor has also influenced migration patterns, encouraging professionals who had moved to Delhi and Noida to return to Meerut due to improved connectivity. This trend is expected to further stimulate housing demand, particularly in mid-income and premium segments.
With the Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut corridor set to become fully operational, attention is now shifting to the second Namo Bharat corridor—the Delhi-Gurugram-SNB route—which will originate from Sarai Kale Khan and include a key station at Aerocity, enhancing regional and multimodal connectivity.
The official noted that public transport projects historically reshape cities’ economic and social fabric, and the corridor is expected to make major business districts more accessible while fostering development in new areas along the route.
