Mangaluru Aims to Become Global Digital Economy Cluster by 2034.

The draft Mangaluru Cluster Vision Document 2025, outlining a comprehensive roadmap to position the region as a globally competitive digital economy cluster by 2034, was launched recently during the fifth edition of Mangaluru Technovanza. The initiative is part of the Karnataka Digital Economy Mission’s (KDEM) Beyond Bengaluru mission.

The ambitious vision targets the creation of over 4,000 startups, 200,000 digital jobs, and ₹40,000 crore in technology exports. It aims to establish Mangaluru as a key hub for cutting-edge sectors including artificial intelligence (AI), clean energy, electronics system design and manufacturing (ESDM), and automotive electronics.

A cornerstone of the plan is the development of a gigawatt-scale AI Data Centre Hub, bolstered by proposed subsea cable connectivity to enhance global digital reach and connectivity.

Currently, Mangaluru’s cluster is supported by more than 25 engineering institutions, over 225 tech companies, five Global Capability Centres (GCCs), and 15+ incubation centers. The region generates an annual tech output valued at ₹4,500 crore, employs around 10,000 IT professionals, and benefits from a talent pipeline producing over 60,000 graduates each year.

This vision document sets the stage for Mangaluru’s emergence as a prominent player in India’s digital economy landscape over the next decade.
